How to install D-Link Router. Step by step for novices.
So get the router, a CD with software, a cable and a power adapter.
Just plug D-Link router, turn on the power adapter and you will see power LED "on". After that get the cable and plug into the port in the back of the device. Another end of the ethernet cable plug to the port of modem.
Green lights is a sign that all is ok. Flashing activity light on the modem and blinking the WAN port on the D-Link device indicates activity and communication between them.
After that reboot your computer.
Now it's time to configure the D-Link router. Invoke your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera...) and open an address http://192.168.0.1
In the administration's panel of the device use login "admin" without a password. Change your password. Use letters, digits and special symbols (security must be on the first place).
Setup your timezone. Now you must choose Dynamic or Static IP addresses. With "Dynamic" option the router will act as a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server and supply all computers on the network with an IP address. For DHCP copy the IP address of the machine your Internet Service Provider has already had contact with. Also copy the MAC address of that machine. For "Static" option use static IP addresses.
After that you should setup the wireless connection. Change the default SSID to match the workgroup ID of your Local Area Network computers. The SSID and the Workgroup IDs must match. It's recommended to setup WPA encryption.
Now reboot your computer and have a nice day with the D-Link router.
